Subject: Safety Switch ( Question From Valued Customer )
1. Please confirm the mechanism of this switch:
- (a) Electronic AC switches consisting of optically coupled input and output circuits (insulated thyrsitor AC switches)
- (b) Electronic switches, including temperature protected switches, consisting of a transistor and a logic chip (chip-on-chip technology)
- (c) Electromechanical snap-action switches
- (d) Rotary Switch
- (e) Push-button switch
- (f) Snap-action, other than limit
- (g) Knife switch
- (h) Slide switch
- (i) Limit
- (j) If other, please specify
3. If possible, kindly provide technical literature about the item (pdf, weblink, drawing, etc).
Answer
Micro Switch Assembly
- C above: Electromechanical snap-action switch (Single pole Double Throw)
- Inline with main power (115 Volts or 220 Volts)
- Design: Breaks main power circuit when mill cover is removed. To minimize risk of injury do to a powered mill with cover removed or, incorrectly placed on unit.

Replacing the Micro Switch
From the image: 1. ensure the Terminals are Red wire to Normanly open. 2. ensure Black wire to Common. |
|
ensure connecting arm: is straight and the extender is secure. |
|
ensure good clean connections: 1. The colors are for consistancy. 2. The connections must be made at Common and Normaly open. 3. Face the wires toward the back of chamber as shown. |
|
This is a "safety switch" it will open ( disable mill power) if the (Forage or Grain cover) is not in place. |
Tech note: It is always a good idea to test the micro switch action with a cover and an Ohmmeter before final assembly. This procedure will help avoid the need to redo, tear down, and rebuild again. The Microswitch should have the spring in-place as shown and the arm is free to move in the chamber. ensure both make and break with cover.
